On a Sunday evening in September 2015, in Montgomery, Alabama, 20-year-old Dundrell Jarrod Young, a Black male, was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of a Burger King on East South Boulevard. The incident was the result of a planned robbery. Young had intended to sell a rifle that day and was accompanied by a friend.
The investigation into Young's death led to the arrest of four individuals.
Travon Romance Williams, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, was identified as the shooter. Witnesses described a young, slim, dark-skinned male with a bandana over his face leaning into Young's vehicle before fleeing the scene. Three other men, Martavius Tyus, Jordan Graham, and Tarick Moore, were also implicated in the planning and execution of the robbery that led to Young's murder.
Court proceedings revealed that Tyus had arranged for Graham to rob Young. Moore provided transportation for Graham and Williams to the Burger King. Surveillance footage and testimony from Young's friend placed Tyus at the scene in his red Mustang. During the investigation, Graham eventually admitted his role in the murder and identified Williams as the person who shot Young.
Ultimately, Martavius Tyus, Jordan Graham, and Tarick Moore all pleaded guilty to felony murder for their involvement in Dundrell Young's death. Travon Romance Williams was tried and convicted on two counts of capital murder. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.
