On a Sunday in Montgomery, Alabama, the life of 28-year-old Jarquis Willis was tragically cut short. On May 14, 2023, gun violence erupted in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway, leaving four people shot. Willis was critically wounded in the exchange and was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The shooting, which also wounded two other men and a woman, prompted an investigation by
the Montgomery Police Department. In an effort to generate leads and bring those responsible to justice, Central Alabama Crime Stoppers announced a $1,000 reward for any information that would lead to an arrest in the fatal shooting. The investigation into the death of Jarquis Willis remains ongoing, and as of now, no suspects have been publicly identified or taken into custody. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and a motive have not been released by authorities.
