On April 23, 2016, Charles 'Lubby' Jones, a 55-year-old African American man from Montgomery, Alabama, was fatally shot in the chest while attending a backyard gathering on North Gap Loop. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that the bullet entered his right lung and severed his aorta, leading to fatal internal bleeding.
