On a spring evening in Montgomery, Alabama, a backyard barbecue among family and friends turned into a scene of tragedy. On April 23, 2016, Charles Jones was fatally shot in the chest while attending a gathering at a residence in the North Pass area of the city. He was a Black/African American male.
