Ernestine Moore, a 67-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on August 20, 1982, in Miami, Florida. Ernestine was a machine shop owner and was well-known in her community. On that fateful day, she became one of the victims in a mass shooting incident that shocked the Miami area. The perpetrator, Carl Robert Brown, a disgruntled former teacher, went on a shooting spree at a welding shop, killing eight people, including Ernestine Moore, and injuring three others.
