On October 14, 2023, at approximately 5:21 p.m., Montgomery Police Department officers and fire medics responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of West Patton Avenue in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 62-year-old Andrew Smith Jr., a local resident, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
