On March 23, 2016, 23-year-old Alshera "Shay" Chew, a senior at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, was tragically killed alongside her 39-year-old boyfriend, Paul Middleton. The incident occurred at Middleton's residence on Jerry Coleman Street, just off the college campus. Authorities believe that Middleton was the intended target due to suspected illicit activities, while Chew was an unintended victim, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
