On August 19, 2020, 53-year-old Christine LeTourneau Summers, a truck driver from Hazel Green, Alabama, was found deceased along Interstate 59/20 near Exit 118 in Fairfield. Summers had been operating her semi-truck when she reportedly stopped on the side of the interstate, possibly believing she had struck something. Upon exiting her vehicle to investigate, she was attacked and suffered fatal injuries from blunt force trauma.
