On September 17, 2016, a violent confrontation between rival gang members erupted in Selma, Alabama, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Lamont "Gucci" Chapman. The shootout occurred early Saturday morning on the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue. Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson reported that Chapman was fatally shot during this incident, and 27-year-old Ronald Johnson was subsequently charged with his murder.
