Melvin W. Perry, a 40-year-old Black man from Selma, Alabama, was found deceased on October 1, 2017. His body was discovered inside his vehicle on a rural road in Autauga County, the victim of a fatal shooting. The discovery initiated a homicide investigation led by the Autauga County Sheriff's Office.
Within a couple of weeks, investigators made three arrests in connection with Perry's death.
The suspects were identified as Martavious Moore, Jermarius Ty’rese Powell, and Malik D’shaun Brown. All three were charged with murder. The investigation suggested that the motive for the killing was robbery.
