On May 5, 2017, 62-year-old Charlie Sanders Jr., a resident of Selma, Alabama, was found shot to death in the front yard of his home on the 1600 block of Tremont Street. The incident occurred as Sanders was leaving for work in the early morning hours. Authorities believe robbery may have been the motive behind the shooting, marking it as the city's third homicide of the year.
