In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday in Selma, Alabama, 17-year-old Amari Bonner, a student at Selma High School, lost his life. Bonner was a passenger in a vehicle from which another occupant reportedly opened fire on a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 16-year-old, returned fire, and a bullet struck Bonner. He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The incident led to the arrest of two other teenagers.
A 15-year-old, who was allegedly in the same car as Bonner and fired the initial shots, was taken into custody. He faces a charge of felony murder in connection with Bonner's death. The 16-year-old pedestrian who fired back at the vehicle was also arrested and has been charged with capital murder. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the exchange of gunfire that resulted in the untimely death of Amari Bonner.
