In the winter of 2021, the community of Selma, Alabama, was struck by the tragic death of 14-year-old Jordan Javaris Lamar. A Black male and a freshman at Selma High School, Jordan's life was cut short on or around December 21, 2021. While some accounts describe the incident as a gun accident, others have referred to it as a murder or death by force.
