On April 2, 2016, at approximately 1 a.m., 27-year-old Byron O’Neal McDonald was fatally shot on the 100 block of South Maxey Street in Selma, Alabama. He sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso and was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Another male in his 20s was also shot during the incident, suffering non-life-threatening injuries to his lower extremities.
