On February 15, 2017, 18-year-old Eric Dial Jr. was fatally shot in the backyard of his family's home on 43rd Street in Fairfield, Alabama. The incident occurred in the morning hours, with Dial's mother reportedly hearing the gunshots and discovering her son shortly thereafter. Despite immediate medical attention, Dial succumbed to his injuries.
