On a spring night in 2017, the life of 33-year-old Brandon Morquese Hudson, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The fatal incident unfolded in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 15, 2017, in the city of Midfield, a community just outside of Birmingham, Alabama.
The shooting, which also left another man wounded, took place around 3:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Woodward Road.
Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered two men who had been struck by bullets.
Both Hudson and the other victim were urgently transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Brandon Morquese Hudson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second man, whose identity was not publicly released, was treated for his injuries.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation into the double shooting. Detectives began canvassing the area for evidence and seeking out witnesses who might have been able to provide information about the events that led to the deadly encounter. However, in the days and weeks that followed, no suspects were publicly identified, and no arrests were announced in connection with the case.
