On August 14, 2017, 36-year-old James W. Byrd Jr. was found deceased in an SUV parked at the Lenlock Shopping Center in Anniston, Alabama. He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The Anniston Police Department initiated a homicide investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

In October 2017, authorities arrested 18-year-old Lequinton Jermaine King of Pleasant Grove in connection with Byrd's murder. King was charged with murder and held in the Jefferson County Jail ...Read More
