On March 21, 2015, in Anniston, Alabama, a violent confrontation occurred at a residence on Ragan Drive. Thomas Hal Marshall, 50, arrived at the home where his estranged wife was staying, seeking refuge due to fears for her safety. Marshall attempted to force his way into the residence, leading to an exchange of gunfire with 46-year-old Jeffrey Michael Foote, an occupant of the home. Both men fired at each other, resulting in Foote being struck multiple times and dying at the scene.
