On a December day in 1983, the life of Anniston, Alabama's Postmaster, Oscar Johnson, a male of 49 years, was tragically cut short in a violent confrontation stemming from a workplace grievance. The events that unfolded on December 2nd of that year left the local community in shock and a postal facility reeling from the loss of its leader. The perpetrator was identified as James Howard Brooks, a 53-year-old postal employee who had a history of disputes with his supervisors.
