Police Officer John L. Cunningham, aged 32, died in the line of duty on Sunday, June 25, 1911, while serving with the Anniston Police Department in Anniston, Alabama. On the day of his death, Officer Cunningham was involved in a search for a man who had previously wounded the Chief of Police and a Calhoun County deputy.
