On a Tuesday evening in Selma, Alabama, the life of Michael Stone, a 32-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On January 9, 2018, at approximately 6:30 PM, law enforcement responded to a call on the 2500 block of Summerfield Road. There, they discovered Stone, who had been shot multiple times with a handgun. He had sustained four to five gunshot wounds.

This violent act marked the first homicide in the city of Selma for 2018. Despite the efforts of the Selma Police Department, the case grew cold.
