On January 10, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., 38-year-old Otis Donnell Carter was fatally shot at the intersection of Highway 80 and County Road 56 in the Selmont area of Selma, Alabama. Responding officers from the Selma Police Department and the Dallas County Sheriff's Office found Carter deceased at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
