In the summer of 2018, the life of Kijuan Harrell, a 20-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. On the evening of Saturday, June 23, Harrell was discovered inside a parked vehicle on Valley Avenue, the victim of a fatal shooting. The discovery sent ripples of shock and grief through his community, leaving friends and family to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a young man on the cusp of his adult life.
