In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 26, 2010, the sound of gunfire echoed through a Northeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood, forever altering the lives of one family. When the noise subsided, 24-year-old Brandon C. McClanahan, a Black male, was found shot and killed. The incident occurred at approximately 1:47 a.m. in the 1200 block of 19th Street, NE.
McClanahan, a father of two young children, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch was called in to lead the investigation into the young man's death. Detectives began canvassing the area for evidence and seeking out any potential witnesses who might have seen or heard something that could lead to the person or persons responsible for the fatal shooting.
Despite the passage of time, Brandon McClanahan's case remains an open and active investigation.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The Metropolitan Police Department continues to appeal to the public for assistance, hoping that someone with knowledge of the events that transpired that night will come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his death. The family of Brandon McClanahan continues to await justice.
