In the summer of 2022, on the first of July, the life of 17-year-old Dennis Simms was tragically cut short in a brazen afternoon shooting in Southeast Washington, D.C. The young man was in the 800 block of Yuma Street when gunfire erupted from a passing vehicle. Emergency services who responded to the scene found Simms suffering from a gunshot wound.
