In the early evening of November 28, 2018, a burst of violence on a street in Southwest Washington, D.C., claimed the life of 23-year-old Samuel Lee Smith. A Black male resident of the city, Smith was in the 100 block of Irvington Street, SW, at approximately 5:50 p.m. when he was struck by multiple gunshots.
