On July 31, 2021, at approximately 11:15 pm, Kervin Sanches, a 31-year-old resident of Northeast, Washington, DC, was fatally shot in the 700 block of O Street, Northwest. Members of the Third District of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) were in the vicinity when they heard gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Sanches suffering from a gunshot wound.
