In the evening hours of January 20, 2019, a tragic discovery was made inside a residence in Mobile, Alabama, marking a violent end to the life of 37-year-old Nelson Bedgood. A male, Bedgood was found deceased alongside another man, 41-year-old Cornelius Taylor, in a home located in the 400 block of Claude Harris Drive. Both men had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Mobile Police were called to the scene at approximately 8:58 p.m.
and pronounced both men dead there, launching a double homicide investigation into the brutal slayings.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case surrounding the deaths of Bedgood and Taylor grew cold. By December 2019, nearly a year after the incident, the Mobile Police Department made a public appeal for assistance in solving the double homicide, along with other unsolved cases. A reward of $5,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest, but as of early 2020, no significant leads had emerged, and no arrests had been made in connection with the murders.
Nelson Bedgood, who was also known by the nickname 'Ray Ray,' was born on November 9, 1981. His funeral service was held on February 1, 2019, at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile, and he was interred at Gethsemane North Cemetery. The community was left to mourn the loss of the two men, while the circumstances of their untimely deaths remained an unsolved mystery with no identified suspects.
