On the morning of February 17, 2019, 41-year-old William Mathews was at a friend's residence in Huntsville, Alabama, preparing to work on cars. During this time, Sherman Demond Moore, aged 38, arrived and inquired about a local drug dealer. After a brief conversation, Moore departed but later returned and shot Mathews multiple times in the back. Mathews was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
