In the early hours of Saturday, January 28, 2023, the life of 26-year-old Christopher Dewayne 'Nooney' Cattage was tragically cut short in Huntsville, Alabama. A male, he was discovered deceased inside a vehicle located in the 4000 block of University Drive, the victim of a fatal shooting that shattered the late-night quiet.
Responding to a call just after midnight, officers from the Huntsville Police Department arrived at the scene to find Cattage.
The subsequent investigation by the Major Crimes Unit pointed to a verbal altercation that had taken place between Cattage and an acquaintance. This dispute is believed to have escalated, leading to the deadly shooting.
Within a short period, authorities identified a suspect in the case. Omondo Jermaine Varner Jr., 25 years old at the time, was taken into custody by the Huntsville Police Department. Following his arrest, Varner was charged with murder in connection with Christopher Cattage's death. He was subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail.
