On February 23, 2003, in Huntsville, Alabama, Benjamin Ferguson, 47, was among four individuals fatally shot at the Labor Ready employment agency. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. as job seekers gathered in the lobby, awaiting work assignments. An argument erupted over a CD player, escalating into violence when Emanuel Burl Patterson, 23, drew a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and opened fire.
