In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 6, 2019, a dispute between acquaintances in Huntsville, Alabama, turned fatal, leaving 28-year-old Anthony Fairley dead from a gunshot wound. The incident occurred outside a building on Seminole Drive. Emergency services transported Fairley to Huntsville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Huntsville police quickly identified a suspect, 47-year-old Patrick Lee Terry, who was known to Fairley. Authorities issued a 'be on the lookout' for Terry and the vehicle he was believed to be driving, a 2007 black Ford Explorer. A nationwide murder warrant was issued for his arrest. Within days, Terry was taken into custody.
The legal proceedings that followed the arrest culminated in a trial where the initial charge of murder was addressed. During the trial, testimony revealed that a heated argument preceded the fatal shooting. Ultimately, a Madison County jury found Patrick Terry guilty of a lesser charge, criminally negligent homicide. The court sentenced him to time already served, which resulted in his release from custody following the verdict.
