On February 25, 2019, 39-year-old Arnulfo Ortega was fatally shot in an unincorporated area near Trussville, Alabama. Ortega had arranged to purchase a car from his co-worker, 32-year-old Walter Edward Juskiewicz. During the meeting, Juskiewicz allegedly opened fire, striking Ortega and causing fatal injuries. A second individual present at the scene managed to escape unharmed and later provided information to law enforcement.
