David Michael Hammons, a 64-year-old resident of Trussville, Alabama, was fatally injured in a violent carjacking and shooting on December 8, 2021, at a Shell gas station on Edwards Lake Road. Hammons was reportedly approached and shot multiple times during the attempted robbery, leaving him critically wounded. Following the shooting, emergency responders transported him to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital, where he was placed on life support.
