On August 11, 2023, 62-year-old Benjamin Craig Sharpton was fatally shot in Argo, Alabama. The incident occurred around 10:35 a.m. in the 8800 block of Gadsden Highway. Witnesses reported that Sharpton was shot by his ex-wife, 58-year-old Grace Dunaway Yancey. Following the shooting, Yancey was taken into custody and charged with intentional murder.
