In a tragic turn of events on a Friday night in June of 2020, a domestic dispute in Florence, Alabama, ended in the death of 59-year-old John Sherwood White. The incident, which unfolded at approximately 10:30 p.m. at 4270 Chisholm Road, resulted in the arrest of his son.
When officers from the Florence Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered John Sherwood White in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds. Also present was his 37-year-old son, John Patrick White.
Emergency medical care was administered to the elder White by the responding officers until paramedics arrived. He was then transported to the North Alabama Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives were called to the location and worked through the night to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
