On December 21, 2019, in Florence, Alabama, 54-year-old Jeffery "Bo" Cherry was fatally shot at a residence on Long Lane. The Florence Police Department responded to a 911 call around 2 a.m. and discovered Cherry deceased inside the home.
Authorities arrested Derrick D. Turnley in connection with the shooting, charging him with murder. At the time of his arrest, Turnley was reportedly intoxicated, necessitating a delay in his initial interview with detectives.
