In the quiet city of Florence, Alabama, the life of 45-year-old Reginald Jackie Watkins II was tragically cut short on the night of February 25, 2020. Watkins, a male, became the victim of a fatal shooting that would lead to a lengthy investigation and the eventual arrest of two suspects.
The events of that Tuesday evening left one person dead and another injured, prompting an immediate response from Florence law enforcement.
As the investigation unfolded over the following year, two individuals were identified in connection with Watkins' death.
The first suspect to be apprehended was Jahleal Jarmon. Later, on February 6, 2021, the second suspect, Clifton Bernard Rowell, turned himself in to the authorities at the Lauderdale County Detention Center. Both men were subsequently charged with Murder in the first degree and Burglary in the first degree for their alleged involvement in the death of Reginald Watkins II. Following his surrender, Rowell was held without bond due to parole violations.
