On April 6, 2020, Florence police responded to a report of an assault involving a firearm at 401 Plum Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Nathan "Nub" Bevis deceased. Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male on a bicycle. Officers located the bicycle near a heavily wooded area and found the suspect hiding within.
