In the summer of 2020, the life of 27-year-old DeVareya Rashad Powell was tragically cut short. On the night of Sunday, June 28th, police responded to a call about a person shot at the Summer Place Apartments located at 557 Azalea Road. Upon their arrival, officers discovered that a shooting had indeed occurred, but the victim was no longer at the scene. An investigation was immediately launched into what was initially a missing person case.
