On May 6, 2022, in Mobile, Alabama, 71-year-old William Dee "Willie" Paul was fatally shot in a tragic incident identified as a murder-suicide. The assailant, 76-year-old Robert Abercrombie, shot Paul before taking his own life. The shooting occurred at Gulf City Body and Trailer Works, where both men were found by responding officers. Abercrombie was deceased at the scene, while Paul was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
