In the Trinity Gardens neighborhood of Mobile, Alabama, a young man's life was cut short by gunfire. Jamartez Donnell Tucker, a 22-year-old male, was shot and killed on May 27, 2021. The incident, which unfolded on Main Street, prompted an investigation by the Mobile Police Department.
The investigation led to the identification of two teenage suspects.
In July 2021, the case saw significant progress with the arrests of 17-year-old William 'Wilmo' Anderson IV and another teenager, Michael Lambert. Both were charged in connection with the fatal shooting of the man media reports also identified as Jamarcus Tucker. Anderson turned himself in to investigators after being featured in a local news segment on fugitives.
The legal process for Anderson and Lambert moved toward a trial. However, just as the jury was selected and testimony was about to commence in June of 2025, the case took an unexpected turn. Both William Anderson and Michael Lambert opted to accept plea bargains.
Instead of proceeding with a murder trial, both men pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. Following their pleas, the judge sentenced both Anderson and Lambert to 15 years in prison. As part of Anderson's plea agreement, an unrelated charge of attempting to elude was dismissed. The plea deals brought a conclusion to the nearly four-year-old case, securing a conviction and sentence for the roles they played in the death of Jamartez Donnell Tucker.
