On a summer day in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 30-year-old Mikos Labron Lewis was tragically cut short. On July 7, 2020, Lewis was found shot to death inside a residence, leaving family and friends to grapple with the sudden and violent loss. The male victim's death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Birmingham Police Department.
In the weeks that followed, investigators identified a suspect in the fatal shooting.
Birmingham Police announced that they had secured a murder warrant for Keleen Connell in connection with the killing of Mikos Lewis. Connell, who was 27 years old at the time, became a wanted man, with law enforcement actively seeking his whereabouts. It was noted that Connell had distinctive tattoos on his face.
The pursuit of justice for Mikos Lewis took a dramatic and final turn nearly two years later. In February 2022, Keleen Connell was shot and killed during an altercation with a Birmingham police officer. While Connell was never formally arrested, tried, or convicted for the murder of Mikos Lewis, his death closed the case for authorities, as he was the sole suspect publicly identified in the investigation. The circumstances of Connell's death were investigated separately by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
