On the afternoon of October 9, 2016, 23-year-old African-American male Rakim Rashad Hawkins was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and 44th Place North in the Kingston neighborhood.
