In the winter of 2020, a promising young nursing student's life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. Destiny Washington, a 20-year-old female, was shot and killed on December 17, 2020, in the parking lot of the Hill Student Center on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a student at Lawson State Community College and was enrolled in a dual program with UAB, with aspirations of becoming a registered nurse.
