On December 17, 2020, 20-year-old Destiny Washington, a nursing student from Trussville, Alabama, was fatally shot on the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) campus. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hill Student Center during a transaction involving the sale of AirPods.
