In the early morning hours of June 7, 2021, a grim discovery was made in Mobile, Alabama, at the intersection of Betbeze and Mobile Streets. The bodies of two young men were found lying in the roadway, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. One of the victims was identified as 21-year-old Joshua Womble, a male resident of the city. The other victim was 20-year-old Doreon Howard.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives who responded to the location quickly determined that the deaths of Womble and Howard were not the result of a random act of violence. The evidence gathered suggested that the two men had been specifically targeted. The ongoing investigation into the double homicide led the Mobile Police Department to identify two suspects in connection with the killings.
Following the initial investigation, authorities arrested 44-year-old Barbara Morrissette and 49-year-old Kenneth L. Mays.
