In the early morning hours of May 11, 2025, a quiet residential street in Mobile, Alabama, became the scene of a tense and tragic event. Responding to a distress call at a home on Driftwood Drive East, officers from the Mobile Police Department discovered a grim situation. Inside the residence, they found the body of 55-year-old Henry Maddox, a Black/African American male, who had been fatally shot.
The discovery of the victim was only the beginning of the ordeal, as authorities quickly identified a suspect who was barricaded inside the same house.
The presence of an armed and barricaded individual prompted an immediate escalation of the police response. The SWAT team was called to the scene to manage the standoff. For more than two hours, a tense negotiation and tactical operation unfolded. Law enforcement worked to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion, and their efforts were ultimately successful. Investigators concluded that the shooting was a domestic-related incident. Following his arrest, Jordan Fantroy-Adams was booked into the Metro Jail and faced a litany of serious charges. These included murder, attempted murder, first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping, robbery, and discharging a firearm into an occupied building. A bond hearing was scheduled for the following Monday as the legal process against him began.
The community was assured by police that this was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to the public. As the criminal case against Jordan Fantroy-Adams moved forward, the family and friends of Henry Maddox mourned his sudden and violent death. He was remembered as a warm and kind individual who had a positive impact on many lives. Funeral services were held at the Word of Life Community Church in Chickasaw, Alabama, and he was laid to rest at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort.
