On February 9, 2016, 15-year-old Murphy High School student Amir Parker was fatally shot in the rear parking lot of a Popeyes restaurant on Government Street in Mobile, Alabama. The incident occurred around 7:27 p.m., following a Mardi Gras parade. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found Parker suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
