In the summer of 2021, on June 29th, the life of 20-year-old Dentarius Maurice Jackson was tragically cut short by gun violence in Birmingham, Alabama. Jackson was at a Chevron gas station on First Avenue North when he was fatally shot.

Following an investigation into the shooting, authorities identified a suspect, Roderick Lynn Patterson Jr., who was subsequently charged with the murder of Jackson. The case against Patterson proceeded through the legal system. However, in 2022, the murde ...
