In the late summer of 2021, the life of Artez McGowan, a 21-year-old male, was abruptly ended in a burst of gunfire. On the evening of Sunday, August 29th, McGowan was in the Pratt City neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama, when he became the victim of a fatal drive-by shooting. The incident occurred on U.S. Steel Road, a short distance from where another individual had been fatally shot just hours earlier, marking a particularly violent day for the city.
