On September 2, 2022, at approximately 5:50 p.m., 22-year-old Demarkus Etwan Moss Sr. was driving with his two young children along Arkadelphia Road in Birmingham, Alabama, when an individual in another vehicle began firing shots into his car. Despite being struck by gunfire, Moss continued driving for about half a mile before his vehicle collided with another. Responding officers found Moss slumped over the wheel, suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
